Muchalinda Pond

Muchalinda Sarovar is one of the most sacred places in Bodh Gaya. This is the place where Lord Buddha spent the sixth consecutive week in meditation after attaining enlightenment. It is said that when Lord Buddha was in meditation a strong storm rained down and seeing Buddha getting wet, the Serpent King of the lake, Muchalinda came out of his abode and protected Buddha from the rain.
Muchalinda Sarovar is also known as Lotus Pond. In this, an idol of Lord Buddha has been installed in a meditative position which depicts the same scene. Apart from this, there are many fishes in the lake which the tourists who come here to see puffed up blossoms.
